The Benanti Designs studio sits in the flourishing artistic district of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It's a full creative suite with a shop full of machines, a built out casting area, an electronics bench, and the room to think, test, and build in one place. An idea can go from a sketch to something you can pick up without ever leaving the building.
Bring a sketch, a concept, or an idea you haven't worked out yet. We go back and forth through drawings, models, and prototypes until we land on the right solution for you. The studio handles full life cycle product development, from first sketch through manufacturing and launch.
Industrial Product Design
Products designed around how they're actually used, carried, and held. Form, material, and manufacturing get considered together from the first sketch rather than bolted on at the end.
Lighting Design
Fixtures and light objects, from sconces and lamps to sculptural pieces. Cast, machined, wired, and finished in the studio, so the thing that leaves is the thing that was designed.
Product Ideation
Start from a sketch, a concept, or a conversation. We work it back and forth through drawings, models, and prototypes until the direction is right, then commit.
Fabrication & One Offs
Small volume production runs, sculptures, and custom one off pieces. Machined, cast, printed, and finished here, including work that's too small or too particular for a factory.
Idea
Bring whatever you have. A sketch on paper, a reference photo, a product you use every day that frustrates you, or just a conversation about what you're trying to make. Nothing needs to be resolved before we start, and the earlier I see it the more useful I can be.
Design
Drawings and CAD, with material tests running alongside them. You get options to react to rather than a single answer, because the quickest way to find the right direction is usually seeing two wrong ones sitting next to it.
Prototype
Built here in the studio and put in your hands. Scale, weight, balance and grip get decided on the real object instead of on a screen, which is where most of the surprises turn up and where they're cheapest to fix.
Production
Short runs made in house, or matched with the right manufacturer once the volume calls for it. I stay involved through tooling and first samples, so what ships is what we approved rather than an approximation of it.
Market
Packaging, product photography, and campaign support, so the thing you spent months developing arrives looking like it was worth the months.
3 and 4 axis CNC for parts, molds, and tooling.
3 and 4 axis CO2 laser for sheet goods, engraving, and fast iteration.
Multiple advanced printers for prototypes, jigs, and short run parts.
A heavily built out casting area for epoxy resins, cement goods, and silicone molds.
A dedicated station for advanced electronics and lighting projects.
Photo accurate displays for photo editing and graphic design work.
A segregated area for sanding, mixing, and touching up, so that work never turns the rest of the shop into a mess.
Multiple large shop machines and an array of high end tools, alongside a broad range of fabrication means.
No ask is too big because I don't work alone. Over the years I've built up a network of specialists and small businesses I work with regularly: advanced electronics engineers, lighting specialists, graphic designers, machinists, finishers, and manufacturers both here and overseas. Work that outgrows the studio gets sent to them, including large scale CNC, large format printing, and UV printing. When a project runs past what I do here, I bring in the person who does it every day rather than learning it on your budget. In practice, that means an ambitious idea is usually far less of a hurdle than it looks from the outside.

Small businesses and one person operations are especially welcome; a lot of what this studio is set up for is work that's too small or too specific to take anywhere else.
